Position Title: Scientist

Required Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in biomedical engineering, electrical engineering or physics
• At least 2 years of experimental research in biomedical optics, ultrasound or electronics
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Capability to work as a part of an R&D team
• Scientific enthusiasm
  

 Additional qualifications:

• Experience in optoacoustic imaging, sensing or monitoring technologies
• Computer modeling and programming
• Technical drawing
• Experience in working with cell cultures, lab animal models or human subjects.

Job description:

 

Under the direct supervision of the VP for R&D, the Scientist will be in charge of projects on development of optoacoustic imaging systems. The first project to be assigned is related to optoacoustic monitoring of thermal therapy. The specific tasks may include, but are not limited to:

1. Development and testing of prototype devices, including optoacoustic probes (arrays of acoustic transducers), electronics, and optical delivery systems
2. Experimental studies using tissue mimicking phantoms, animals, and human subjects
3. Development of physical models for optoacoustic imaging during thermal therapy including models of light propagation in tissues and generation of acoustic signals
4. Writing research reports, peer-reviewed publications, and grant proposals.
   Compensation is contingent with qualifications and standard levels in Texas and will be negotiated after the successful job interview.
